Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani thanked people for their financial support on his appeal in the holy month of Ramadan and for their affiliations with the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat. However, while reiterating his appeal of creating local “Bait-Ul-Malls” in every village and town, Geelani said that for strengthening and for the betterment of the freedom movement, it is very essential to make it self-sufficient with respect to the resources, a party statement said on Tuesday.

“While stating the details of the government policies against the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, Hurriyat chairman said that though Tehreek-e-Hurriyat is purely a political organization and all its programs are disciplined and peaceful but the authorities in Delhi and their local employees have started a war with this organization and its political activities have been completely banned,” the statement quoted Geelani as having said.

“I am consecutively under house detention from last 4 years and many central and district officials of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat are also imprisoned in different jails. Police have always been following the activists of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat in every village and town and they are not allowed to perform their religious as well as political activities,” Geelani said.

“Geelani cautioned the government that this policy will have serious consequences in future and when you will close all the options of the political struggle then naturally the youth will be forced to adopt other options. Hurriyat chairman, however, said that the cruelties of the state government will neither deter Tehreek-e-Hurriyat and nor will they compromise with their stand,” the statement further said.

“Until and unless the Kashmir dispute is not resolved according to its historical perspective and Kashmiris are not given a chance to decide their future, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat will in anyway and at any cost continue its struggle,” Geelani said.

While addressing the executive members of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat in a daylong meeting, the Hurriyat chairman said that the response of the people to “our appeal in the month of Ramadan have encouraged us and have added a new life to our workers and activists. Every district has encouraging remarks and our Tehreek-e-Hurriyat officials nowhere faced any kind of disappointment”.

While instructing the activists to strictly follow the practice of trustworthiness and honesty, Geelani said that the trust which the people have reposed on us has doubled our responsibilities.

“Firstly we should respect their trust and we should try to meet their expectations with us. Secondly to make the freedom movement more active, we should spend maximum time and we should establish more links with our people,” Geelani said.

Tehreek-e-Hurriyat is not any new addition to the already existing organizations but it was created for the just cause. At the time when different formulas, road maps and different out of box solutions regarding the Kashmir dispute were being floated and Pakistan also to the contrary of its traditional stand started to support these voices, the existence of such a unique voice was imperative which would not have any type of ambiguity and doubt and which will not budge for anything less than complete freedom for the Kashmir,” Geelani said.

He said that though the existence of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat was at a very crucial time and “it is only 10 years old but with the grace of Almighty Allah it has successfully completed its purpose of existence and it not only has remained firm on its stand despite the atrocities and cruelties of India but it has made history by rejecting any dictation of any ruler of even the supportive country Pakistan, which will be against the wishes and aspirations of the Kashmiri people and which will be less than complete freedom”.

Geelani also expressed “satisfaction over this that the people not only vehemently supported the stand of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat but they have close affiliation with this organization and they also love this”.
