SRINAGAR

Senior pro-freedom leader Azam Inqalabi Friday said that People’s Democratic Party patron, Mufti Muhammad Sayeed should understand the psyche of a Kashmiri and should not waste his time to form a civilian government in the state with the support of regional parties and some independent members.

“Let us be realistic and admit that some people voted for PDP and this party has support base and those who voted for this party want it to form the government. A common Kashmiri hit by floods needs relief and it is the local government that can provide relief to him,” Inqalabi told Srinagar based news gathering agency CNS adding that elections and government formation process in the state should not be linked with Kashmir issue.

“People are suffering and they want redressal of their day-to-day problems. Due to lack of government, they feel frustrated. Mufti should cease the opportunity and forge an alliance with regional parties to keep BJP at bay,” he said.

Jammu and Kashmir Mahaz-e-Azadi patron said that Mufti Muhammad Sayeed should safeguard the regional character of Kashmir.

“Jammu is the duplicate copy of New Delhi that dances on the tunes of India. PDP being Kashmir centric party should join hands with National Conference and Congress to keep BJP at bay. BJP is a high profile ‘communal’ force than Congress that is hell bent to destroy the basic ‘Kashmiriyat’ in Kashmir,” he said.

Responding to a question, Inqalabi said that if PDP seeks support from BJP then that government will cease to exist after three or four months.

“Mufti talks about Kashmir issue and ‘Kashmiriyat’ but BJP in no way can accommodate his aspirations. The duration of PDP-BJP government in the state will be so short and for Kashmiri people it will have serious implications. Mufti should ponder over the fact that for how long his government could survive in case he forges an alliance with BJP,” he said.

“Average Kashmiri needs relief and only a Kashmir centric government can provide them succour. It is better for Mufti to seek the support of regional parties. When independent candidates like Hakim Muhammad Yasin, Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami, Engineer Rashid as well as NC and Congress are extended unconditional support to him, then there should be no reason for him (Mufti) to hug BJP. Mufti Muhammad Sayeed can easily form a viable government under the present circumstances,” he said.

Inqalabi added that militants are keenly watching the state of affairs in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Let me tell you, there will be surge in militancy in case PDP forms government with BJP. Besides, National Conference also wants to see a PDP-BJP government in the state as this party will get an opportunity in future to exploit the ‘wrong move’ of PDP,” he said.

Responding to a question, Azam Inqalabi said that Hurriyat (M) leader Professor Abdul Gani Bhat has let down nation by calling on Indian political elite (Mufti Muhammad Sayeed) at his residence.

“Bhat not only humiliated himself, but also insulted the Kashmir nation and Resistance Movement,” he said.
