Thousands of the people on Sunday attended the funeral prayers of Rouf Ahmed Khanday, a resident of Dehruna village of South Kashmir’s Islamabad district.

Reports said the thousands of the people attended his funeral at his native place in Dehruna village. People from adjacent areas marched towards the Dehruna village raising pro-freedom and anti-governmental slogans for the last glimpse of slain militant.

Reports also said that as the body of Khanday, was lifted the scenes were poignant amid the chanting of pro-freedom slogans, hailing the “martyr.”

Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is being observed in Islamabad district to mourn the militant killings. Khanday was killed during an encounter between the government forces and militants in Dialgam Village of Islamabad.

 

Earlier, SSP Islamabad Altaf Khan said that a joint team of police, army’s 19 and CRPF launched a cordon at Brunty Dialgam village during the intervening night of March 31/ April 1.

“One militant Rouf Bashir Khanday was killed and another militant Imran Rashid has been captured alive during the operation,” SSP said.

Rouf Ahmad Khanday Son of Bashir Ahmad Khanday, a resident of Dehruna village of Dooru Islamabad had announced his joining Hizb ul Mujahideen and his photographs wielding Ak 47 went viral in last week of March. The photograph had his code name Umar Hayat and joining “active date” 4/02/2018.
