Continuing its efforts to eradicate drug menace in the city, J&K Police headed by SP West and SDPO West arrested three notorious drug peddlers.

During routine checking at Hamdania Colony, a suspicious person was intercepted by the patrolling party of Police Station Parimpora who was identified as Reyaz Ahmad Mir son of Abdul Rehman resident of Sangam, Pulwama. “On his search, 12.2 grams of Brown Sugar was recovered from his possession,” J&K Police spokesperson said Sunday evening.

In another incident, during naka checking at Fruit Mandi a drug peddler Adnan Firdous Qureshi, son of Firdous Ahmad, resident of Ahmad Nagar was arrested and “750 bottles of codeine phosphate were recovered from his possession”.

At Bypass Bemina, one more drug peddler Pervaiz Ahmad Chesti, son of Abdul Gani, resident of Khanyar was arrested and “3900 bottles of codeine phosphate were recovered from this possession”.

In this regard, case FIR numbers 99/2016, 103/2016 and 104/2016 under section 8/21 and 8/22 NDPS were registered in Police Station Parimpora and investigation was taken up.

Meanwhile, police said that a pedestrian died in a road accident after a Santro car hit him in Bogund area of Kulgam.

A Santro car hit and injured a pedestrian Mohammad Afzal Dar son of Ghulam Ahmad Dar resident of Bogund at Bogund Kulgam.

The injured was shifted to Qaimoh Hospital for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries.

After completion of legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites.
