A teenage girl was allegedly gang-raped Thursday night by three men at a hotel in Qazigund area of south Kashmir’s Islamabad district.

All three accused have been arrested, booked for rape and sent to 10 days police remand.

According to police the owner of hotel and restaurant in upper market Qazigund called police late Thursday night, after he apparently heard cries a girl coming from one of the hotel rooms.

“The girl in her statement has said that she was going to Jammu and the trio offered her a lift somewhere between Qazigund and Khanabal,” SDPO Qazigund, Abdul Khaliq was quoted by a newspaper.

He further quoted the girl saying it was getting late and she was lured to stay at a hotel in Qazigund.

“They stayed in separate rooms as per the girl but all of them barged into her room and forced themselves on her in the dead of the night,” Khalid said.

He said the police swung into action and raided the hotel soon after they received the tipoff.

“The girl was handed over to the family after her statement was recorded while the accused have been kept in 10 day police remand,” the official said.

The arrested trio has been identified as Shabir Ahmad son of Asadullah Dar, a resident of Nowpora, Rainawari in Srinagar, Imtiyaz Ahmad Khan son of Habib Ullah Khan, a resident of Khayam Chowk, Srinagar and Sheikh Sarwar son of Hussain-Din resident of Shaheed Gung Srinagar.

A case under FIR number 104-2016, under sections 376 of the RPC has been registered against them.
