Train service was suspended on Saturday across Kashmir in view of the strike call by Joint Resistance Leadership against the shifting of Dukhtaran-e-Millat chief Asiya Andrabi along with her two associates Fahmeeda Sofi and Nahida Nasreen to Delhi by National Investigation Agency.

“We have suspended train service in the Kashmir valley following a fresh directive from police,” a senior railway official told Kashmir Life.

Therefore, he said, no train will chug on Srinagar-Budgam in central Kashmir to Baramulla in the north.

Similarly, all trains will remain suspended on Srinagar-Islamabad-Qazigund in south Kashmir with Banihal in Jammu, he added.

This is the first time in July train service has been suspended in the valley.

The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), comprising of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, and Muhammad Yasin Malik has called for a complete shutdown on today across Kashmir.
