The revised limit replaces the earlier permissible speeds of 85 kmph between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Sangaldan and 75 kmph on the Sangaldan-Banihal stretch.

A Public Relations Inspector (PRI) of the Jammu Railway Division said the speed enhancement was approved after the Railways completed the prescribed safety requirements for increasing the operating speed.

The Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM), Jammu Railway Division, said the higher speed would reduce journey time between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Banihal while providing passengers with faster, safer and more comfortable travel.

The official said the improvement in rail connectivity was also expected to support tourism, trade and other economic activities in the region, adding that passenger safety and convenience remained a continuous priority for Indian Railways.
