SRINAGAR: The death toll of the civilians in the Tral grenade attack has gone up to three, officials said. There is at least one more person who is stated to be seriously injured.

The slain civilians were identified as Pinty Kour, Ghulam Nabi Trag and Mohammad Iqbal Khan.

Officials said a total of 18 persons including many officials were injured in the grenade attack. Of them six injured including a woman was shifted to SMHS in Srinagar. All others are being treated locally.

Official said none of the injured shifted to Srinagar is critical. “They will take time but will be all right,” one official said.

A senior official said that a driver who was carrying a Superintending Engineer, also injured, has received seriously injury.

Meanwhile the minister whose motorcade was attacked has left for Srinagar. An official accompanying him said they left after the seriously injured were shifted to Srinagar.

After the injured were shifted, there were protests in Tral. Locals said the police and paramilitary men opened fire on the civilians. Details of the ammunition that police and paramilitary forces used in the aftermath of the attack were not immediately known. Some of the injured admitted to SMHS are having pellet injuries as well.
