Two persons died while nine others were injured in a road accident in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

An eye witness told Kashmir Life over phone that a Sumo under registration number JK05 : 8520 was on way to Machikrund from Uri when it slipped from the road.

“Because of the continuous road, the road was slippery and the Sumo skidded of the track tilting upside down,” the local said, “two persons died while nine got injured.” Seven of the nine injured were referred to Baramulla district hospital.

The deceased were identified as Kareem Hussain, s/o Sher Muhamaad (75) and Mohammad Rafi, s/o Ghulam Din (25), both residents of Machikrund.

The locals were aghast against the authorities alleging that the Uri hospital lacked adequate facilities. “There is no X-Ray facility available in Uri hospital and the seven injured persons had to be shifted to Baramulla,” they said, “these small things are not available here.”

The locals added that the driver sensing trouble fled from the spot.
