SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir police on Saturday claimed to have arrested two hybrid militants in Rafiabad area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

A police spokesman in a statement said that today on July 30, 2022, at about 1730 hours, a joint naka by Sopore Police, 32 RR and 92 CRPF was established at Hadipora Rafiabad  in the jurisdiction of Police Station Dangiwacha .

The spokesman said that during naka checking two suspected persons coming from Lorihama link road towards Hadipora, on observing security forces at Naka point both fled from road to nearby orchards and were chased and apprehended by forces.

“On search 2 pistols and 2 pistol magzines along with 11 live cartridges were recovered from their possession,” he said, adding that during preliminary questioning both revealed their identity as Tariq Ahmad Wani S/O Late Bashir Ah Wani  and Ishfaq Ahmad Wani S/O Ali Mohammad Wani both the residents of Old Airfield Rangreth Srinagar.

“Preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested persons are hybrid militants of  proscribed organisation LeT and were in constant search of an opportunity to carry out strikes on security forces and civilians,” he added further.

“On this case FIR No. 90/2022 U/S 506/IPC, 7/25 Indian Arms Act 13 ULA(P) Act registered in Police station Dangiwacha, Rafiabad Further investigation is still going on,” said the spokesman.
