The wife of senior Congress leader Tariq Hameed Karra has lost from ward 31 of the Srinagar municipal corporation in the urban local bodies polls.
An official said that Asifa Tariq Karra of Congress lost to Independent candidate Fancy Jan by a margin of 18 votes from Lawaypora ward.
“While Asifa Tariq Karra polled 501 votes, Fancy Jan got 519 votes,” he said
The counting for the recently concluded Municipal Committee elections is underway in Jammu and Kashmir.
Two main regional parties, National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party, have boycotted the polls to protest attacks on state subject laws.
