SRINAGAR: A fish farmer in Samnoo area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district has suffered losses estimated at several lakhs of rupees after the water supply to his fish farm was allegedly disrupted by unidentified persons, resulting in the death of several quintals of fish.
The farmer said dozens of quintals of fish were being reared at the farm and were expected to be sold in the market within the next few days. However, he alleged that some unidentified persons shut the water supply to the farm, causing the fish to die.
“Some unidentified miscreants shut the water supply to my farm, resulting in the loss of several quintals of fish,” the farmer said.
He has sought strict action against those responsible for disrupting the water supply and urged the administration to provide compensation for the losses suffered.
The exact value of the damage is yet to be assessed.
