Addressing the 21st Convocation of the University of Kashmir, the Lieutenant Governor said that “ideas in the classroom must impact the world” and stressed closer collaboration between academia and industry to build a Viksit Bharat. The ceremony was graced by the Vice President of India CP Radhakrishnan.

“My mantra is that industry and intellect should grow together. Universities should collaborate with industry, innovators and research organisations so that campuses and companies co-create the future,” he said.

Exhorting graduating students to adopt “One purpose. One priority — Country first,” he said nations rise not merely from resources but from educated citizens. He emphasised that education shapes responsible citizens and links personal success with collective good.

Highlighting rapid technological shifts, including artificial intelligence and digital transformation, the Lieutenant Governor said higher education must integrate adaptability, emerging technologies and interdisciplinary collaboration into curricula. He urged faculty to make adaptability a core skill, integrate AI with human intelligence and promote global partnerships.
