SRINAGAR: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast a spell of unsettled weather across Jammu and Kashmir over the coming week, warning of rain, thunderstorms, lightning, hailstorms and gusty winds at scattered places across the Union Territory through June 19.
According to the latest weather advisory, the region is expected to witness partly to generally cloudy conditions accompanied by light rain, brief intense showers and thunderstorm activity at various locations until June 17.
The Meteorological Department said weather conditions are likely to remain generally cloudy on June 18 and 19, with one or two spells of light rain or showers expected at scattered places across Jammu and Kashmir.
The department has also warned of the possibility of thunder, lightning and hailstorms at isolated locations during the forecast period.
Officials said thunderstorm activity may be accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 kmph, with occasional gusts of up to 60 kmph in some areas.
The advisory has urged residents, farmers, travellers and outdoor workers to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions, particularly during periods of thunderstorms and strong winds.
Weather officials have advised the public to closely follow official forecasts and avoid unnecessary exposure in areas vulnerable to lightning strikes, localised flooding and weather-related disruptions.
