SRINAGAR: US forces carried out a 13th consecutive night of strikes against Iranian military infrastructure, targeting command centres, drone storage sites and coastal surveillance facilities, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said.
In a statement, CENTCOM said the operation concluded at 9 pm Eastern Time on July 23 and struck military command centres, drone storage facilities, communication networks, coastal surveillance sites and maritime capabilities.
According to the US military, the strikes were aimed at further reducing what it described as the threat posed by Iran to civilian mariners and commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
“The international waterway remains open for transit despite recent attacks from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Commercial vessels continue to freely navigate the strait with U.S. military support,” the statement said.
CENTCOM also said that more than 50,000 US service members are currently deployed across the Middle East.
The latest operation marks the 13th successive night of US strikes targeting Iranian military infrastructure amid heightened regional tensions.
