Awami Ittihaad Party (AIP) Friday carried out a strong protest in Kupwara against the Village Defence Committes and sought their immediate disbanding.
Hundreds of party workers led by MLA Langate Er Rasheed started marching from Main Chowk Kupwara and after carrying processing through the main market submitted a Memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, an AIP statement said this afternoon.
“He has submitted a memorandum to PM through DC Kupwara requesting him to intervene so that these extra constitutional committees are winded up and their atrocities are looked into. Let all political parties rise to the occasion by disbanding these VDCs, otherwise people have a genuine impression that the mainstream politicians are puppets of New Delhi and their role is nothing but to implement orders of their masters in New Delhi, which are always anti-people, unrealistic, illogical and colonial in nature,” the statement said.
Rasheed reiterated that National Conference should apologise to the people of state before crying over VDCs and other issues as like PDP, NC is the “mother of all evils and sufferings” which Kashmiris are facing.
He accused PDP and PC of acting as “collaborators and compromising everything” to remain in power without caring for the rights of majority community of the state.
