Village Level Consultative Committees

Amid great enthusiasm thousands of people across Jammu and Kashmir Sunday participated in the Village Level Consultations organized by the Education Department to elicit views at the grassroots level for framing the New Education Policy.

“It was heartening to see the people’s overwhelming response to the initiative of Village Level Consultation on New Education Policy,” Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar said. He said the people during these state-wide consultations, not only gave their views on the New Education Policy but also put across various valuable suggestions on how to keep the momentum of educational reforms going in the State.

He said the Village Level Consultations were organized by the Village Education Committees under the guidance of the Cluster Heads and the views expressed by the people during these consultations were uploaded on a dedicated website in a pre-designed format. He said besides general masses, around 7000 Village Education Committees participated in today’s consultations.

Akhtar said in the second stage, the consultations will be held at the District Level on 9th November 2015, which will be followed by consultations at the State Level before firming up the New Education Policy.

Akhtar said that the people by and large appreciated the new initiatives taken by the Government to rejuvenate the education sector and bring focus back on academics and the students.

Director Education Kashmir, Shah Faesal said that today’s consultations revolved around eight themes on how to make the education relevant to the market needs and how to remodel the academics.
