Dog Protest 1

A conglomerate of local NGOs Saturday held a silent protest demonstration against the growing dog menace and dog bite cases in Kashmir.

Carrying banners and play cards like ‘Don’t make humans food for dogs’, ‘Save children from dog menace’, ‘Are our children food for dogs’, the protestors chanted slogans against the state administration for ‘not acting against the growing menace’, in Mushtaq Press Enclave here.

A minor was recently brutally mauled by dogs on North Kashmir’s Baramulla while he is battling for his life in SKIMS now. They were joined by many children from across Srinagar and its peripherals.

Tabassum Geelani Chairperson of Ehsaas Trust, an NGO, on the occasion said that the government has failed to protect the locals especially the children of the state. “The residents of the valley live in constant fear as the school children have been bitten by dogs. To add the residents are deprived of sleep at night due to the continuous barking of these stray dogs.”
