SRINAGAR: Cabinet Minister Satish Sharma on Saturday said that JKNC does not want a system like that of Delhi or Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking to reporters, Sharma, emphasised his positive outlook and belief that both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha are committed to empowering the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “We have been advocating for the restoration of statehood, which Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had also raised during his visit to Delhi. We too will visit in our capacity. We are not asking for anything new; we want what has been taken to be restored,” he said.
Sharma further highlighted that ensuring affordable healthcare in Jammu and Kashmir is a current priority, noting that post-COVID, complications have risen, and the people have endured the impact of militancy for the past three decades. “We need to ensure affordable healthcare for the people here,” he said, stressing that cooperation between the private and government sectors is essential at this time.
“The government has limited resources, but private partners can play a crucial role in the health sector. There are some private hospitals doing excellent work, but they need to reduce their costs,” he added.
Addressing issues related to rations and other matters, the minister, who oversees Transport, FCS&CA, Youth Services and Sports, Information Technology, and Science & Technology, said that a decision would be made public soon.
Responding to a query, Sharma said that coordination between the administration and the elected government is essential, adding that they do not want a situation like Kejriwal’s Delhi in Jammu and Kashmir. “Everyone wants a solution, and all decisions will be made according to the people’s aspirations,” he concluded.
