After a spell of heavy snowfall in Kashmir Valley that paralyzed life, there has been a respite from inclement weather conditions and it is likely to continue till Saturday. The forecast suggests clear weather for this week. However, there are chances of light showers in upper reaches of valley on Feb 4.
Officials at MeT, while talking to Kashmir Life said, “The weather is likely to remain pleasant, this week, as the cloud cover has disappeared after a heavy spell of snowfall.”
Due to heavy snowfall, caused by western disturbances, the valley had remained cut-off from the rest of the world as the Srinagar-Jammu road was closed for traffic and all flights were suspended. However, after the improvement in weather conditions the road and air traffic connectivity has resumed.
Indicating a significant improvement in temperature the mercury levels have gone up. Last night, Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of -1 degrees, while as yesterday’s maximum temperature settled at 6 degree Celsius.
