SRINAGAR: As hot and humid weather conditions persist throughout this month, the local weatherman predicts light rainfall on Saturday night.

He mentions that there is no forecast of any major wet spell for the next week.

Director of the Meteorological Department (MeT), Sonum Lotus, spoke to the news agency KNO, stating that the ongoing dry spell is expected to continue for the next week.

However, there is a possibility of light rainfall at isolated places in Jammu & Kashmir tonight.

Lotus emphasised that there is no forecast of any significant wet spell during the upcoming week.

The ongoing dry spell has resulted in a decrease in the percentage of precipitation levels.

From June 01, 2023, to August 16, 2023, the Union Territory has recorded a 2 percent departure from the normal rainfall, according to data compiled by the MeT.

Poonch and Shopian districts of J&K have experienced deficient rainfall of 28 percent and 43 percent, respectively, during this season.

In Kishtwar, a significant rainfall deficit of 69 percent was recorded until August 16, 2023, as per MeT data.

Nevertheless, Srinagar and Doda districts of the Union Territory have seen a substantial excess of rainfall, with 65 percent and 66 percent respectively, as added. (KNO).
