besy-marketWith the start of holy month of Ramzan, the traders and vendors in South Kashmir’s Dooru & Verinag towns are being alleged of selling goods at exorbitant prices.

The residents of the areas said that they have no option but to buy the vegetables, fruits and other day to day commodities at exorbitant rates. “What can we do as the vendors refuse to sell them at CAPD approved rates,” Fayaz Ahmad, a local resident of Dooru town said.

Another resident, Shahnawaz Ahmad, said that the fruits and vegetable rates are soaring during the holy month of Ramazan in Dooru town.  He said, “In this holy month everyone tries to feed his family better, and the dealers and vendors are taking this advantage due to which they are selling at exorbitant prices.”

Talking to Kashmir Life, Executive Officer of Muncipal Committee Dooru Verinag, Bashir Ahmad Nanda, said that his team is conducting a thorough market check of vendors and vegetable dealers and whosoever is found selling commodities at higher rates will be fined and taken to task.

Meanwhile, when contacted SDM Dooru Mohd Aslam said that he will take action against those dealers who are selling commodities at higher rates.
