SRINAGAR: Four individuals, including a member of a militant group and a woman, have been charged under the strict Public Safety Act (PSA) in the Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir.

“After obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority, they were placed in custody at the Central Jail in Jammu’s Kot-Balwal and the Central Jail in Srinagar,” an official said.

The two individuals from Nasrullahpora area of Budgam, Khursheed Ahmad Dar, also known as Shola, and Riyaz Ahmad Rather, were arrested on charges of drug peddling.

Tauseef Ahmad Khambay, a resident of War Sangam in Soibugh, who is affiliated with the Ansar Ghazwat-ul Hind as an overground worker, was also booked under the PSA.

Additionally, Sarda Begum, a resident of Lammdarhal in Rajouri, has been apprehended for deceiving men after marrying her daughter, Shaheena Akhter, to them.

The official stated, “With a well-rehearsed script of her mother and some brokers, she (Akhter) had married these men and later duped them of cash and gold.”

Cases against the mother-daughter duo have been filed in Budgam district.
