Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Xi on Saturday evening, with discussions expected to focus on strengthening trade and investment ties between the two countries.

Xi’s visit comes amid a series of recent high-level engagements between India and China. These include the Special Representative dialogue held in Beijing between National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

The visit also takes place against the backdrop of continuing concerns over Chinese military activity along the Arunachal Pradesh sector.

The two-day visit is expected to provide an opportunity for the two sides to discuss bilateral relations and areas of mutual interest.
