A fresh batch of 4,722  pilgrims left Jammu for the cave shrine in the Kashmir Valley on Friday, an official said.

“The pilgrims left the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas Jammu in an escorted convoy of vehicles for the Valley today,” he said.

“Of these, 2,147  Yatris are going to Baltal base camp while 2,575  are going to Pahalgam base camp”.

The 45-day long annual Amarnath Yatra which started on July 1 has been going on smoothly. Till date, over 50,000 pilgrims have paid their obeisance at Amarnath cave.

The 45-day Amarnath Yatra will end on August 15, coinciding with the Shravan Purnima festival.
