The Mother and Child Care (MCC) hospital of Zakurra Srinagar inaugurated one year back awaits construction work. The people of the area alleged the official apathy is responsible for delaying the construction of hospital.

The residents demanded to resume the construction of hospital as the construction company has stopped work. They lament that the people of the area has been time and again ignored by the administration.

Pertinently the foundation stone of the hospital was laid in the month of April last year by Jammu and Kashmir housing board unit 2nd for the construction. Adding that till date the authorities did not bothered to speed up the construction. “Merely a symbolic construction has been done. This hospital is much needed for the area. They are going on snail pace”, said a resident, Ali Mohammad Mir.

They added that since the foundation has been laid, no official bothered to visit the location to take stock of the ongoing work.

They appealed chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti to intervene into the matter so that the people’s grievance would be addressed.

When contacted Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), Asiya Naqash she said that due to the unrest the work was affected. She said that by March the work will be resumed. “We are trying to resume it as soon as possible. It is approved project of 12 crore rupees”, she said.
