A complete shutdown is being observed on the eighth consecutive day on Monday in Shopian district against the killing of four civilians and two militants in Pahnoo area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.

All shops, business establishments, government and private offices remained closed in the district while public transport was off the roads.

On Sunday, March 4, 2018, evening, four civilians and two militants were killed in army firing at Pahnoo village.

The locals of Pahnoo, Pinjoora and it’s adjacent areas have been demanding the removal of 44 RR army garrison camp at Pahnoo Shopian established in 2016, who according to locals are involved in the killing.

Contingents of police and CRPF troopers are deployed at sensitive locations in the district to thwart any “element of violence”, an official said.

Meanwhile, high-speed mobile internet service in Shopian district remains suspended on the eighth straight day after authorities snapped the service on March 4,2018.
