Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, who was on a day’s visit to south Kashmir areas, laid the foundation of some key developmental projects on Sunday.

The spokesman said Mehbooba laid the foundation of famous Brazloo bridge which would come up at a cost of Rs. 28.64 crore and is expected to be completed within three years. The 378 metre bridge would be having nine spans and a width of 16 metres.

She also threw open 80 metre span bridge at Wanpora Shamsipora which has come up at a cost of Rs. 6.83 crore.

With this, the ambitious project of widening of Highway-444 (Srinagar-Shopian-Qazigund road) has kicked off which is expected to cost Rs. 1800 crore.

She also laid the foundation of Model village under Tribal Sub Plan at Nagress village which would benefit around three thousand souls in the area. The Rs. 10 crore project would be completed within three year’s time.

During her visit, she also laid the foundation of a 100 bedded Gujjar Bakerwal hostel which would be completed by the end of next year. The hostel would be spread over 47 kanals of land and would be completed at a cost of Rs. six crore.

At Kund, Devsar, Mehbooba laid the foundation of ITI building which would be constructed at a cost of Rs. 4.71 crore. Spread over around 20 kanals, the proposed ITI would be imparting training in 8-10 disciplines with high job placement. She also laid the foundation of conference hall at Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam’s office which would come up at a cost of Rs. five crore and is expected to be ready by the end of this year only.

Interacting with the officers on the occasion, the Chief Minister directed the project executing agencies to stick to the completion deadline and complete them within the same. She hoped that raising of such developmental infrastructure would get the area on the path of development and empowerment.
