National Conference Saturday expressed ‘outrage’ over the death of three year old Burhan from Sopore and called the killing a “shocking and barbaric murder”.
While offering condolence with the bereaved family on behalf of the party, National Conference Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani said, “This killing is the height of misfortune of Kashmir. Even a child of 3 years is not spared by barbaric killers.”
Nasir condemned the unabated killings of civilians at the hands of “unknown gunmen” and said, “it is not just terrifying but puts a big question mark over the way government is handling the situation.”
Wani said that in the recent past the killing of people by “design is a dangerous trend reminiscent of the situation of 1990s”. “How can the Chief Minister try to bask in glory by stating that not a single innocent has died in protests? These killings cannot be brushed under the carpet,” Wani, according to his party statement said.
He castigated the government for its silence on the killings of three teenagers in Pattan and the killing of youth in Kunzer.
“How come bodies are just ‘found’ like that, and no one talks about the killers?” he said. He added that the people of Kashmir are invoking the government to take note of the miseries and fear “that has become their fate since March 03rd, 2015”.
“It is a complete anarchy. The Government is missing on the ground and these everyday acts of horror are just adding to people’s day-to-day problems and issues.”
Nasir said that Chief Minister’s silence on the issue of hand behind the killings is pointing out to “its connivance and understanding with the killers”. “Chief Minister should have raised his voice when Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar made that infamous remark that terrorists must be utilized to kill terrorists,” he said.
“There is common presumption in Kashmir that it is a specific design and motive that is behind the killings and government is at the least in know-how of this design.”
