SRINAGAR: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has assigned 551 masters to look after the posts of headmasters or equivalent across the Union Territory.
The announcement was made by the Minister for School Education, Sakeena Masood Itoo, who reiterated the government’s commitment to providing quality education in every corner of Jammu and Kashmir. “This major drive will boost quality education in these institutions and ensure effective monitoring at the grassroots level,” the minister said while referring to the official order issued on Wednesday.
According to the School Education Department, 269 masters have been assigned look-after charges in the Kashmir division, while 282 masters have been designated for the Jammu division. These appointments are expected to fill administrative gaps in schools, particularly in remote and underserved areas.
The districts covered in Jammu division include Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi, Samba, Kathua, and Doda. In Kashmir division, the look-after charges extend to far-flung areas such as Chitregam in Shopian, Pulwama, Salamabad Dachina in Baramulla, as well as various schools in Kupwara, Bandipora, and Kulgam.
Director of School Education Kashmir, Dr G.N. Itoo, expressed gratitude to the government for prioritising the issue and taking swift action to address the longstanding vacancies in school leadership. (GNS)
