SRINAGAR: The 60th Urs of Hazrat Lassa Khan Fida (RA), a prominent Sufi saint and poet, was celebrated with spiritual zeal at his shrine in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district today.
Thousands of devotees gathered early in the morning to pay their respects, marking the occasion with prayers, poetic renditions, and the continuation of rich Sufi traditions.
The shrine, adorned with flowers and incense, resounded with Quranic recitations, Naats, Darood Sharif, and Sufi chants, creating an atmosphere of deep reverence and spiritual contemplation. Devotees from across the region participated in special prayers, which were interspersed with spiritual discourses. Scholars elaborated on Hazrat Fida’s core teachings of love, humility, equality, and brotherhood, emphasizing their relevance in contemporary society.
Throughout the day, the programme featured cultural presentations by the Jammu and Kashmir Cultural Academy. Poets and artists recited Hazrat Fida’s timeless works, including “Gul Bakwale” and “Gulzar-e-Haqaqat,” which continue to inspire generations with their message of mysticism and love.
The event, organised by the Lassa Khan Fida (RA) Foundation in collaboration with the Cultural Academy, was attended by several scholars and devotees, including Hazrat Fida’s son, Professor Gulshah Majeed. He underlined that the saint’s message of compassion and service to humanity remains more significant than ever in today’s world.
Many elderly devotees recalled the saint’s simplicity and deep connection with the common people. One devotee remarked tearfully, “For him, serving humanity was the greatest form of worship.”
The day concluded with a grand dua majlis, where thousands of people prayed collectively for peace, harmony, and the well-being of society. The 60th Urs of Hazrat Lassa Khan Fida (RA) was a reminder of Kashmir’s rich Sufi heritage, serving as a beacon of love, coexistence, and spiritual strength.
