The security review meeting, held amid recent militant activity in the Jammu region, was attended by top officials including Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, and senior officers from the Central Armed Police Forces, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Home Ministry. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was not present at this meeting.

Shah lauded the efforts of the security agencies, noting a marked decline in terror-related incidents, cross-border infiltration, and militant recruitment. He attributed the progress to the Modi government’s “multi-pronged strategy” and reaffirmed its zero-tolerance approach to terrorism. “The entire terror eco-system nurtured by inimical elements has been crippled,” Shah said, instructing all agencies to intensify operations through enhanced surveillance and seamless coordination.

He also called for the full implementation of the Area Domination Plan and Zero Terror Plan in “mission mode”, and stressed that the gains made since the abrogation of Article 370 must be consolidated to achieve a “terror-free J&K”. The Home Minister reviewed security arrangements for the upcoming Amarnathji Yatra, set to begin on July 3, and directed agencies to ensure its smooth and peaceful conduct.

In a separate meeting focused on development, Shah was joined by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, and senior officials from both the central and J&K governments. Over two hours, the review covered major sectors including power, connectivity, industry, tourism, and agriculture.

Shah said the Modi government’s relentless development push was transforming the Union Territory across all fronts. “Jammu and Kashmir is accelerating on the path of growth in every sector,” he noted, pointing to comprehensive changes driven by central assistance and reforms.

The Home Minister was briefed on the financial support already extended to the Union Territory and the allocations made under the 2024–25 budget. He directed that steps be taken to further speed up project execution, underscoring that development must reach every corner of the region.

“The Modi government is working with an unwavering resolve towards building a developed Jammu and Kashmir,” Shah said. “A new era of prosperity is emerging through welfare and infrastructure initiatives.”

The back-to-back meetings reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to a secure and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir through both counter-terror efforts and inclusive development.
