SRINAGAR: A special programme titled “Friends 11” was organised at the 12 Infantry Brigade under the leadership of Brigade Commander Manis Sagal, who, since his posting in Uri has been working consistently to strengthen coordination and harmony between the Army and civilians.
The event brought together senior members of the law, administration, and police to foster collaboration across different sectors for the development of Uri. Local MLA Dr Sajjad was also invited to participate in the initiative.
Speakers at the gathering underlined the importance of unity, cooperation, and mutual respect, stressing that Uri should be developed as a Model Town through collective efforts. They said that the partnership between institutions and communities could serve as an example of how different stakeholders can move forward hand in hand.
In his address, MLA Dr Sajjad delivered a special message to the youth, encouraging them to work hard and assuring them of his full support. “Wherever the youth need me, if they walk two steps, I will walk four steps with them,” he said.
He identified unemployment as his top priority and announced that two major projects — the second phase of Uri-II and the upcoming Railway project — would provide opportunities for local youth. He also expressed hope for the revival of the Mohura Project, terming it a development that could open new avenues of employment in the region.
Dr Sajjad also urged young people to stay away from drugs. “Say no to drugs,” he appealed, while calling for collective efforts between the public and administration to build a better future for Uri.
The programme concluded with a shared commitment from all stakeholders to strengthen civilian-military relations and work towards making Uri a model of progress and development.
