SRINAGAR: A sophisticated automatic weather station has been installed in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district as part of an initiative to improve agricultural and horticulture practices by providing real-time weather insights and soil analysis, thereby enabling farmers to make informed decisions and increase production.

The installation of the weather station is a part of the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), operational at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) in the Pombai area of Kulgam.

The main objective of the station is pest detection and providing farmers with early warnings about potential threats to their environment, media reports said.

Timely updates on wind direction, temperature, humidity, wind speed, soil temperature, soil moisture, solar radiation, pest activity will be mananged by the station.

Notably,AWS enables farmers to access the data remotely through the internet or through SMS.
