Two more civilians were killed during clashes with government forces after the encounter in Badigam village south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Sunday.

Official sources from district hospital Shopian said that a civilian identified as Zubair Ahmad a resident of Rajpora area of Pulwama.

Sources said that Zubair was killed at Nagbal. He has two bullets in his chest and was brought dead to Shopian Hospital.

Army has fired on stone pelters at Nagbal when they were driving bodies of the slain militants to Zainapora police station, sources said.

Another civilian Nasir Ahmad Kumar a resident of Arihal area of district Pulwama who had sustained a bullet injury in his stomach during clashes near the gunfight site in Badigam, Shopian succumbed to injuries at SMHS, Hospital.

He was shifted to nearby hospital where from he was referred to SMHS Srinagar hospital in critical conditions where he succumbed later.

In the encounter, five militants including top Hizb commander Sadam Padder and KU assistant professor were killed. The gunfight broke out in Badigam village early today after the joint team of Army, SOG and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in the area.

A policeman and a soldier of 44 RR were injured in the initial exchange of fire with the militants, reports said. The injured were shifted to 92 base military hospitals in Badami Bagh Srinagar.

Earlier, three civilians identified as Asif Ahmed Mir of Rohomoo Pulwama, Sajad Ahmed Rather, son of Manzoor Ahmed Rather, a resident of Dooru Islamabad and Adil a resident of Mahigund Ashmuji village of district Kulgam were killed during the clashes with government forces.

Details are sketchy about the incidents in which these persons were killed.
