JAMMU: Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, Sunil Sharma, has alleged that the National Conference was responsible for the creation of Ikhwan in Kashmir, claiming that NC leaders had openly associated with Ikhwan commanders in the past.
Speaking to reporters outside the assembly on Wednesday, Sharma said, “Ikhwani was the creation of NC. Farooq Abdullah was holding rallies with Kuka Parray. Javid Shah (Ikhwani) was once their candidate.”
Sharma also took aim at Chief Minister Omar Abdullah over the autonomy resolution passed by the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly during the Farooq Abdullah-led government. He pointed out that the resolution was later rejected by the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led government at the Centre and questioned why Omar Abdullah, who was part of the Union Cabinet at the time, did not resign in protest.
Reacting to National Conference leader Ali Mohammad Sagar’s remarks that the Government of India should hold talks with Pakistan, Sharma said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi knows whom to talk to, when, and in which language.”
Earlier, Sharma had made similar remarks inside the assembly while responding to Sagar, who had strongly criticised the BJP during his speech.
