SRINAGAR: A 10-year-old boy went missing after being swept away by strong currents of the Kishanganga River while bathing in the Gurez area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Monday evening, officials said.
Quoting an official news agency KNO reported that the boy was taking a bath in the river when he was caught in the fast-flowing water and swept away.
Soon after the incident, teams from the Police and Army, along with local volunteers, launched a search and rescue operation to trace the missing boy. Senior police officers are supervising the ongoing efforts.
The missing boy has been identified as Babar Bashir (10), a resident of Sheikhpora village in Tulail.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated further proceedings.
