Haider-Trailer-ReleasedThe wait sounds finally over. Vishal Bharadwaj’s Haider is being released on October 2. They have already released a trailer that triggered very positive commentary. The star cast had gone to promote the film and they were wearing black which added to the reports that the story line is actually dark. And the most recent disclosure is that both Vishal and the lead actor Shahid Kapoor have not taken their dues, simply to help film not exceed its budget.

PATTAN

They have started spearing the human habitations. The latest from north is that the army’s 29-RR has occupied three functional buildings of state run rabbit farm in Wusan. It happened on Sunday that a convoy disembarked and occupied the buildings without any orders from the civil or police administration. The farm spanning 110 kanal of land, is home to 1300 rabbits of different breeds and is a rare success story of the animal and sheep husbandry. No more.

RUSSIA

JamwalA soldier from J&K created a record of sorts for himself when he climbed the 18,510-foot Mount Elbrus in Russia on June 26. Identified as 39 year old Major Ranveer Singh Jamwal, he is a resident of Badhori village in Samba district. He has climbed Mt Everest twice. Mount Elbrus is the tallest mountain in the Europe. Major was part of 10 member team of whom seven withdrew. His resolve: I am planning to climb all the seven tallest peaks in the seven continents of the world in next two years.

ruttie-bai-jinnah1It was common knowledge that M A Jinnah had visited Kashmir thrice. Two dates were known to everybody and third was quite mysterious. Thanks to poet and author Khalid Bashir Ahmad, former Director Information, Archives and Libraries for settling the mystery last week. He has conclusively established for the first time that Jinnah and his estranged wife Rattanbhai Petit or Ruttie had come to Kashmir in May 1927. Purpose: The couple had separated and had come to Kashmir to reconcile their differences.

fake-encounters-KashmirThree cops were indicted by Justice Pandian Commission for opening fire on a procession seeking the missing in March 2000 after Panchalthan encounter. Following it up, K Rajindra Kumar carried out a departmental enquiry and sought their dismissal. Accused SOG personnel went to the court and sought some direction. The police constituted another committee, this time led by N D Wani to go through the case. He held them responsible but recommended their reinstatement. Finally, Omar intervened and ordered dismissal. But can three cops be just dismissed for nine unarmed civilians!

KRALPORA

State run archives department had an Eureka moment last week when they discovered a mini-Hanuman in Chadoora belt. Reports quoting Mohammad Shafi Zahid, its director, said this rarest artefact is shortly being put on display. “The path breaking findings” were the outcome of an exploration drive by a team. Zahid has stated that this is for the first time that such an archaeological find is reported from Kashmir. This stone sculpture is Hanuman in standing posture on lotus designed pedestal and measures 43 inches in height and 19 inches breadth. It dated to 9th century AD when Kashmir was under the rule of Varma dynasty and Raja Avantivarmana was the ruler.

State owned JK Cements Ltd sold cement worth Rs 93 crore in 2013-14 and Rs 23.76 crore in the first three months of the current fiscal.
