The information provided by Thesil office Ganderbal has indicated that even deceased persons have been provided Ration Cards while from past 8 years, the employees of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department availed the benefits from these ration cards and sold ration in black.
According to CNS, the residents of Barasoo Ganderbal in Central Kashmir staged a massive protest against CA&PD alleging that the employees of the department for petty gains issued ration cards to non-residents as well as to dead persons.
Scores of protestors assembled in Press Enclave Srinagar and raised anti-CA&PD slogans. The protestors said that a few days before they sought a detailed report from Tehsil Office Ganderbal about the names of people who have been issued ration cards.
“We were surprised and shocked to see the details. The names of those people figured in the list who were never issued ration cards. Furthermore, even the names of dead persons figured in the list. The reality is that the officials used to avail the benefits from these ration cards and sold ration in black after getting ration on this fictitious ration cards,” the protestors said.
One of the protestors, Abdul Hamid Teli told CNS that the real inhabitants of Barsoo Ganderbal have not been given ration cards while those persons have been supplied ration cards who are not the residents of the area. The protestors appealed to the government to look into the matter and order a thorough probe to ascertain the facts.
