SRINAGAR: The Government of India has announced the temporary suspension of all civil flight operations at 32 airports across northern and western India from May 9 to 14, 2025, citing operational reasons, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has issued a series of NOTAMs (Notices to Airmen) confirming the suspension, which affects major and regional airports including Srinagar, Leh, Amritsar, Jammu, Jaisalmer, Pathankot, Shimla, Kullu-Manali, Rajkot, Awantipur, Adhampur, Ambala, Bathinda, Bhuj, Bikaner, Chandigarh, Halwara, Kundan, Jamnagar, Jodhpur, Kandla, Kangra (Gaggal), Keshod, Kishangarh, Ludhiana, Mundra, Naliya, Patiala, Porbandar, Sarsawa, Thoise, Uptarlai.
“All civil flight activities at these airports will remain suspended during this period,” the notice states.
In addition to the airport closures, the AAI has also ordered the temporary closure of 25 segments of Air Traffic Service (ATS) routes within the Delhi and Mumbai Flight Information Regions (FIRs), further impacting airspace operations.
According to an official notification, the 25 route segments will remain unavailable from ground level to unlimited altitude until 2359 UTC on May 14, 2025, corresponding to 0529 IST on May 15, 2025.
Airlines and flight operators have been advised to plan alternate routes in coordination with respective Air Traffic Control (ATC) units. The Ministry stated that the temporary closures are being managed in a manner that ensures safety and minimises disruption to aviation services.
