Clashes erupted in Batamaloo area of Srinagar, after the braid of a women was chopped off by unknown persons.
Reports said that unknown persons chopped the braid of women (name with held) in Laxminpora Batamaloo area of Srinagar early this morning at around 7 am.
“Some unknown persons were already present in the third story of the house and as soon the lady reached the third storey, they poured some spray something on her face, leaving her partially unconscious. They later cut her braid and fled,” a local told Kashmir Life.
Soon after the incident, people hit the street in protest and the protesters turned violent when they were asked to disperse by police. They resorted to stone pelting.
Police later used tear smoke shells to disperse protesters. In the police action two protesters received minor injuries.
The braid chopping incidents have created a fear psychosis among the residents of Kashmir, particularly women, as the culprits have been carrying out attacks regularly.
While police has formed special investigation teams (SIT), they have not been able to catch any of the culprits even as the number of attacks has crossed 100 across Kashmir valley.
