SRINAGAR: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Thursday inspected the under-construction Seerbagh–Sempora Bridge in Srinagar and directed the executing agency to expedite the remaining work so that the project is completed and thrown open to the public at the earliest.
During the inspection, Choudhary reviewed the progress and quality of construction and stressed the need to maintain prescribed standards while ensuring timely completion. He said the bridge has entered its final phase and instructed officials to speed up the remaining work without compromising on quality.
The Deputy Chief Minister was accompanied by Chief Engineer, PWD Central Kashmir, Narinder Kumar, Superintending Engineer Iram Lone and other senior officials of the Public Works Department.
Highlighting the significance of the project, Choudhary said the bridge will substantially improve road connectivity and ease travel for residents of Seerbagh, Sempora, Summerbugh and adjoining areas of Chadoora, Pampore and Srinagar. He said the project is expected to reduce travel time, improve access to essential services and provide a boost to economic activity in the region.
Reiterating the government’s focus on strengthening infrastructure, the Deputy Chief Minister directed the concerned officers to ensure that all pending works are completed efficiently so that the bridge is made operational without unnecessary delay.
