SRINAGAR: At least 11 people, including seven members of a family, were killed and one person reported missing after separate incidents of cloudburst and landslide struck Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban and Reasi districts on Saturday.
Officials said four members of a family died and one person went missing at Rajgarh in Ramban, while a couple and their five children were buried alive in a landslide at Badder village in Mahore area of Reasi district.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed grief over the deaths and directed the administration to intensify rescue and relief operations. “The district administration and disaster management authorities have been asked to remain on the ground, ensure round-the-clock monitoring, carry out timely evacuation from risk-prone zones, and provide immediate relief to affected families,” his office said in a post on X.
Chief Minister expressed deep sorrow over the tragic landslide in Reasi’s Bhadder village that claimed the lives of seven family members.

Abdullah also instructed all concerned departments to remain vigilant, maintain close coordination, and take precautionary measures amid continuous heavy rainfall. He appealed to the public to stay alert, avoid vulnerable areas, and strictly follow safety advisories.
Rescue and relief efforts were launched in the affected areas, with authorities on high alert due to the prevailing inclement weather.
