On the 70th United Nations day, Hurriyat Conference (m) on Monday said that though the world body has helped resolve a number of international disputes, yet despite acknowledging the J&K dispute and passing dozens of resolutions on it, UN has failed the people Kashmir in getting their right to self-determination, as guaranteed by the world body.

“The lingering Kashmir dispute for the past seven decades has had devastating consequences for the people of Kashmir while   India and Pakistan have gone to war three times and turned nuclear causing great concern for the region,” the Hurriyat Conference said in a statement issued this evening.

Appealing to the United Nations to come to the “rescue” of the people of Kashmir who for the past four months are facing “worst form of state terrorism” resulting in the killings of over 100 civilians, injuries to more than 16,000 people, arrests of over 12,000 persons, ransacking of household items worth Crores of rupees, beating up of residents and others forms of oppression and gross human rights violations, the Hurriyat Conference called the upon the world body to play a proactive role in ending these “atrocities” and resolve the vexed Kashmir dispute by implementing the resolutions passed by it for which the people of J&K are relentlessly struggling and sacrificing for seven decades now.

Meanwhile, the Hurriyat Conference (m) statement added that a delegation comprising Ghulam Qadir Beigh, Khazir Muhammad Wani, Farooq Ahmad Saudagar and others visited Medical Institute at Soura and called on ailing JKLF chief Muhammad Yasin Malik, enquired about his health and conveyed the wishes and prayers of the Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to him. Mirwaiz is chief of Hurriyat Conference (m).

“While people continue their protest for the 107th day, government continued to use brute force and unleash its military might on peaceful protest marches organised by the people on the call of the unified resistance leadership as severe restrictions and curbs  were put in place to restrict their  movement,” the statement said.

Condemning the forces for “declaring war” on local population in Sopore, Tarzoo, Hardshiva, Bab Raza, Narsullahpora, Malroo, Barazulla, arbitrary arrests, ransacking household goods, harassing and terrorizing people, the conglomerate said, “despite such oppression and barbarism the ruling class and government forces would not be able to break the will of the freedom-loving people as they had decided to brave all odds and continue their fight for self-determination.”

Denouncing the anti-employee policy of the ruling class, termination of over a dozen employees, arrest of employee leaders and their detention in jails outside Kashmir, APHC-m demanded immediate revocation of orders of the termination of employees and release of employee leaders and resistance leaders, office bearers of resistance groups and thousands of youth.
