The income calling facility on mobile telephony in Kashmir was restored on Saturday morning after it remained suspended for six days- second time in last 43 days.

According to news reports this development has come after police issued orders to telecom service providers to restore one way mobile phone service.

The resumption of services has eased up the concerns of the people to some extent.

The Ms Mehbooba Mufti led government snapped mobile phone and internet services across Kashmir on July 09, 2016 after mass protests were triggered by the killing of popular militant commander Burhan Wani.

On August 12 evening, government snapped the mobile phone services second time and restored it Saturday morning. Mobile internet services continue to remain suspended.

One person hailing from Kupwara working in Srinagar told Kashmir Life that he was able talk to his parents after a week.

The outgoing call facility along with mobile internet on prepaid mobile telephone continues to remain barred.

BSNL, a union government backed telecom company, is the only service provider that has been allowed to keep its post-paid mobile telephone services going.

After news spread that one way phone service has been restored, a Facebook user had this to say: “I just heard my phone made a strange noise!!!!!!!!!!!”
