Since early morning students of Punjabi University Patiala, Punjab, assembled inside famous corridor to protest against killings in Kashmir.

The walls of the corridor that connects major departments and offices in the university were pasted with posters denouncing Indian army’s actions in Kashmir.

These posters highlight life threatening injuries caused by controversial pellet guns.

In last 61 days of civil uprising 76 people were killed by forces, while more than 10,000 were injured.

As students started to assemble near the corridor, university authorities called in riot control team, which according to eyewitnesses tore down the posters and dispersed students.

Students also advocated Kashmiris right to determine their future, said an eyewitness who spoke to Kashmir Life over phone.

The proposed solidarity march that was supposed to pass though the corridor and conclude outside Vice Chancellor’s office is yet to begin.

“They (riot control force) have virtually locked down the entire campus,” he said.

Reports suggest that the march was stopped after a few right wing activists tried to clash with the students.
