Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Thursday chaired a meeting regarding arrangements to be made for the upcoming month of Muharram-ul-Haraam in the District.

Officers from Police, Revenue, Health, PDD, PHE, R&B, Fire and Emergency Services, CA&PD Departments, Participated in the Meeting, an official spokesperson said this evening.

DDC directed the officers of PHE, PDD, Health and R&B Departments to ensure that all arrangements are in place before 30 September 2016.

Officers of Municipality were directed to ensure cleanliness in and around Imambaras of the District. ARTO was directed to ensure availability of transport.

Police were directed to keep in place fool proof security arrangements.

Among others ADC Ganderbal, ACR Ganderbal, all the District officers were present in the Meeting.

DC Pulwama Reviews Muharram Arrangements

In view of upcoming day of Ashura in the second week of October, Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Muneer-Ul-Islam chaired a meeting of officers to review the arrangements to be put in place for Muharram.

Representative from Shia communities of district Pulwama also participated in the meeting & put forth suggestions with regard to arrangements to be put in place on Muharram.

The issues with regard to sanitation, water and power supply, availability of ration & security arrangements were discussed threadbare in the meeting.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the official of Food, Civil supplies and Consumer Affairs to project to the government rice & sugar requirement respectively over & above the approved quota for the district to meet the shortfall of previous months.

He directed the officials of Municipal Committees Pulwama and Tral for ensuring sanitation around the places of congregation in Shia dominance areas especially on the day of Ashura.

Referring to prevailing situation in the district, the Deputy Commissioner instructed district police to put in place effective security system to prevent any untoward incident.

DC Budgam Finalises Muharram Arrangements

Arrangements for ensuing Muharram-ul-Haram were finalised today in a meeting of officers convened here today under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Budgam, Mir Altaf Ahmad.

Directing CMO for ensuring implementation of formulated action plan in letter and spirit, the Deputy Commissioner asked the ISM authorities to work in tandem with health department.

He directed the PDD authorities to ensure that street lights are fully functional and High Mast lights, Halogen Bulbs and LEDs are in place at all important places.

He also asked to install generator sets at identified locations.

The Deputy Commissioner asked the PHE authorities for ensuring uninterrupted drinking water supply during the Muharram days, besides availability of water tankers at identified locations.

HE directed the R&B authorities to make ensure that the roads, from where the procession would take place, are repaired.

The Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department was directed to ensure adequate supply and prompt distribution of ration, sugar and LPG to the rationees.

Directing Municipal authorities for launching cleanliness drive for ensuring sanitation around the places of congregation in Shia dominance areas especially on the day of Ashura, the Deputy Commissioner, asked the Rural Development authorities to supplement their support in sanitation and establishing ablution rooms wherever necessary.

Urging upon the Fire and Emergency authorities to be prepared to deal with any eventuality, the Deputy Commissioner directed the forest authorities to ensure adequate stock of firewood well in advance.

He also directed the ARTO to make special transport facilities till the conclusion of the procession on day of Ashura for the convenience of the people.

Impressing upon the officers to work with close coordination, the Deputy Commissioner directed the officers vested with magisterial powers to maintain close liaison with police authorities.

A joint control room (helpline no 01951-255042) has been established in the office of S.P Budgam in order to redress grievances of citizens and ensure synergy.

DC Kulgam Reviews Functioning of Agriculture Department

Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Showkat Aijaz Bhat today convened a meeting to review the functioning of Agriculture and allied departments in the district.

The meeting was attended by the district officers of Agriculture, Horticulture, Sericulture, Floriculture and Apiculture.

The meeting had a threadbare discussion on the issues confronting the department during the last two months.

During the meeting the Chief Agriculture officer informed the Deputy Commissioner that the department had this time introduced popular rice variety of Mushkibudej in the district for the crop quality of rice.

It was revealed in the meeting that an expected production of rice is 96000 MT this year, besides the department had set up some vegetable clusters including Kanipora, Poniwah and Wasirpora in the district.

The Sericulture department on the occasion apprised the Deputy Commissioner about the problems faced by the cocoon rearers for the proper marketing in the district.

It is worth to mention here that the Department of Sericulture had produced about 2700kgs of cocoon in the district this year which is yet to lift for marketing.

The Deputy Commissioner on the occasion assured that all the issues regarding public interest would be solved on priority. He stressed upon the officers to help the farmers by giving them timely technical advice besides remain available in the field.

Cooperative Department records Rs 1.88 cr business turnover

The Department of Cooperative Societies in Bandipora tries its utmost to make big achievements and obtain good results by way of distributing K Oil, Fertilizers, Poultry and other consuming goods among the people on reasonable rates.

Presently 3 Cooperative Marketing Societies, one Fair Price Medical Shop, 10 Primary Agricultural Credit Coop. Societies, and 4 Poultry Development Coop. Societies are functional in Bandipora District.

During the last five Months, the department provided 2.43 lakh litres of K. oil and other goods to the consumers, earning revenue of Rs. 64.64 lakh.

Similarly, 8058 Qt. of fertilizer including 4307 Qt UREA, 2710 Qtls of DAP, and 1040 Qtls of MOP were sold by the department earning revenue of Rs. 104.32 lakh in the District.

Besides this, 22000 poultry birds worth Rs 19.68 lakh have also been distributed among people during the same period.

The department registered a total business turnover of Rs 188.64 lakh during the current financial year so for in the district.

Moreover, one Sher-i-Kashmir Cooperative Fair Price Medical shop functioning round-the-clock in District Hospital Bandipora is also being supervised by the Cooperative department.

During the past 74 days of unrest, medicines worth Rs 21.12 lakh were provided to patients, while as medicines worth Rs 29.34 lakh is available with the shop at present.
