SRINAGAR: Director General of Police (DGP) Jammu and Kashmir Nalin Prabhat on Friday directed security agencies to intensify anti-terror operations across Kashmir and maintain sustained pressure on terror networks and their support structures.
The directions were issued during a high-level security review meeting chaired by the DGP at Police Control Room Kashmir, which was attended by senior officers from the Army, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), intelligence agencies and Jammu and Kashmir Police.
During the meeting, officers briefed the DGP about the prevailing security situation, field-level preparedness and measures put in place across the Valley, particularly for the ongoing annual Amarnath Yatra.
Reviewing the multi-tier security arrangements, Prabhat stressed the need for close coordination among different security agencies, seamless intelligence sharing, real-time information exchange and joint operational planning for better outcomes.
The DGP asked officers to keep a close watch on terror associates and anti-national elements and initiate timely preventive and legal action wherever required. He said coordinated efforts and timely sharing of actionable intelligence were crucial for maintaining a strong security grid across Jammu and Kashmir.
Prabhat also called for strengthening area domination exercises, enhancing night patrols and increasing surveillance in vulnerable locations to prevent any attempts aimed at disturbing peace and public order.
He directed officials to set up effective checkpoints at sensitive places across Kashmir to strengthen access control, improve monitoring and intercept suspicious movements.
The meeting also focused on the security of the Amarnath Yatra, with the DGP directing enhanced vigilance along vulnerable stretches of the pilgrimage route, transit points and other strategic locations.
He also reviewed security measures on the National Highway and railway infrastructure to ensure smooth movement and safety of pilgrims.
The DGP instructed field officers to hold regular operational briefings for deployed personnel and intensify public awareness campaigns at base camps and transit points by informing pilgrims about safety guidelines and precautionary measures.
Senior officers, including GOC 15 Corps, Special DG Coordination J&K, Special DG CRPF J&K, ADGP CID J&K, senior officers from BSF, CRPF, ITBP, Army formations, range DIGs and district police chiefs of Kashmir Zone attended the meeting.
