Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) chairperson, Syeda Aasiya Andrabi, on Saturday asked the separatist leadership of Jammu and Kashmir to devise a strategy to “actively take forward the on-going freedom movement”.

As per a statement issued to press this evening, Dukhtaran-e-Millat held a Majlis-e-Shoora (consultative meet) which was presided over by party’s chairperson, Syeda Aasiya Andrabi early today.

“During the meeting, it was observed that the resistance leadership must not let the people’s pro-freedom enthusiasm go out of hand as they (people) have already come on streets against the Indian occupation,” the statement said.

“The pro-Azadi leadership should, without any delay, devise a mechanism to channelize the on-going movement in a way to pressurise India to resolve the Kashmir issue as per the UN resolutions,” the meeting observed.

The Dukhtaran-e-Millat chief’s recent meeting with Pakistani High Commission, Abdul Basit and his deputy was also deliberated upon wherein “Pak envoy assured Syeda Aasiya Andrabi that Pakistan is committed to its policy/stand on Kashmir”.

“Abdul Basit also said that Kashmir is an unfinished agenda of partition of the subcontinent and that Pakistan will always support Kashmiris in their cause,” the statement claimed.

“On the occasion,” the statement added, “tributes were also paid to the Mujahideen who were martyred in Lolab while fighting the Indian occupational forces.”

“The sacrifices of these martyrs will yield results,” the meeting said and “hailed the people of Lolab for exhibiting such a great affection with Mujahideen and the freedom movement.”
