For its first successful tournament this year, Pakistan Super League (PSL) is mulling to include another cricket team in its second edition next year.

Pakistan Super League, more or less like Indian Premier League (IPL), played its first tournament in United Arab Emirates with five teams. The PSL Governing Council Chairman Najam Sethi recently in a tweet said it is planning to include Kashmir (PaK) as the sixth team in PSL’s second edition.

However, Peshawar Zalmi – one of the five teams in PSL – owner Javed Afridi went a step further by tweeting that players from this side of Kashmir too should be given chance.

PSL’s first edition included five teams: Islamabad United, Quetta Gladiators, Peshawar Zalmi, Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings. The decision comes a surprise as well as the team owners had been told that for two years no other team would be included in the mega tournament.

“If PSL Mgt start a vote of confidence for another 6th Team in PSL. I’ll strongly recommend “Kashmir Team” soft msg to the world’s sports arena,” Afridi tweeted.

Kashmir has already made its place in IPL with renowned Kashmiri cricket player, Pervez Rasool, paying this time for RCB.

Javed Afridi, who tweets @JAfridi10, in another tweet wrote that the proposed Kashmir team should not be restricted to Pakistan administered Kashmir (PaK) only. He advocated finding ways of incorporating cricket players from Jammu and Kashmir.

Notably, India and Pakistan had been using cricket, besides trade, as a means of diplomacy to make the relations better. At times, the nuclear armed neighbours visited each other on the occasions when two cricket teams would play against each other. The last one being Pak premier Yusuf Raza Gilani coming to India where he met his counterpart, Dr Manmohan Singh in Mohali Punjab at a cricket match between India and Pakistan.
